We had our 6th Annual Walkathon and first time Worship and Praise. The walk was a unique surprise. Last year we raised almost $4,000 and had 14 walkers. This year after much contact with the churches in the area we had 5 walkers. One adult works for the center, the other is a spouse of a volunteer. The three children were from volunteer families. None of the people who walked have a Port Orchard address. They raised $690.00. The donation bottle at the astro dino brought in $94.00 which came from primarily unchurched families.

What was an awesome act of God was the Praise and Worship service! Barriers were broken! God's praises were sung in the park and it was beautiful! The volunteers from the center with a little help from Bill Wash (and supporting Tenor and alto) got together and as a group shared music to get things going. The skies cleared and the evening temperature was just right. With the glamour of an evening summer sky worship groups from four churches went on to share the love of God. We wish to acknowledge and thank these churches as founding fathers of a mighty work of God:

• Calvary Chapel
• First Baptist
• Abundant Life, 4 Square

One of the first things I heard over and over was what it would be like next year. Amen.

Mission support packets have been produced and we have approached various churches in our neighborhood over the last year. As stated in a letter sent to all the churches we could find we are short a minimum of $150.00 in monthly support pledges. This amount is necessary for us to stay open. It is sad that after 11 years we are looking at closing when we are serving more people than ever before. Please pray for the success of this outreach so that we can continue to serve Port Orchard.
